Soulfire, you say that you can defeat a 185i Clubsport, but get beaten by 165wk automatic VN SS Commodores....hmmmm......weird.......

Not too weird when you consider the 165kw vn has more power per tonne, and nearly all of the ones out there have AT LEAST a full exhaust. I'm only half a carlength ahead of a clubbie, and haev been comprehensively beaten by all the vn sses ive run.

Ahhh now we're gettin' somewhere

Yeah sure, a modded VN SS may very well beat an XR6.

Mate, I'm sure if a stock VN SS auto pulled up next to you at the lights, you shouldn't have tooooooo much trouble dispnensing with it :)

I didn't think that VR's were all that much heavier than VN's. Not even 100kgs in it is there????

The SS VN V8 165kw wont run low 15s stock. Thats dreamin. I ran one in a VN V6 one day. I was in front by a nose to the end of first gear, then when we hit second, he started creeping away at a snails pace.

I reckon the XR6 auto has a better chance than many of you guys think.

You guys must get the hippy hippy shakes at the lights when a VN rolls up.

I reckon a coat of paint would separate them over 400m

ATTENTION VOXACE: If a thread does not interest you, or you are sick of the topic posted. DON'T READ IT or DON'T POST IN IT. Too easy, I would have thought.......

Voxace wouldnt be the only person who gets sick and tired of the same old questions coming up year after year. Where a theoretical question is asked, people describe their personal experiences, people argue about why the result was what it was etc etc

Feel free to continue the discussion (hell, i'll continue to throw my 2c in), but dont be suprised if other people on the site get frustrated with the repetitous banter.

In summary:

a) the question will never be answered
b) the thread will go on forever
c) who gives a s**t?

it will never be answered! everyone has different cars, running different mods, with different drivers. who cares - be happy with what you drive, regardless of what other car it does/doesn't win a highly legal street drag! if you think a VN SS is so much quicker, buy one. these threads are useless, in every way.

Why do we modify our cars? Isnt it to be just a little better than the neighbours car? If we dont have something to compare to or a benchmark then how do we determine the mods required.

Some of us are happy with an Exhaust/extractors, some of us are more hungry and need blowers etc. But its all about being better than the next guy. Dont deny it.

Everyone wants to blow the pants off the next bloke.

it aint hard to drag race a stock auto car. lol
but that time is average for a vnss with those mods. i wouldnt expect it to dip in the 14's unless its an absolute freak.

soulfire i reckon it will be an even race, u may just beat him i think.

thank you for giving me my point of view.

my car is no-where near to being as quick as a lot of other cars on the road, but i have no desire to spend s**t on the engine/transmission/diff just so i can rub it into someone i'll never see again at a set of traffic lights. i spend $$$ on my car to enjoy it, not for anyone else. each to their own.

I spend cash on my car so its quicker.
Cause I like to be able to overtake quickly, to be able to blast up freeway onramps, to get crazy corner exit speed...
But I don't benchmark it against other cars to figure out exactly how quick it is...
I go to the drag strip, and get UNDENIABLE PROOF, of how quick(or slow, in this case) the piece of s**t is!

^ what he said.

I didnt supercharge my car so i could drive around blowing away 15 year old commodores at traffic lights. I havent even taken mine to the drags.

What i do know is that is has a meaty power curve and when i put my foot down on a nice, windy road - i get a nice kick in the backside.
