114 idles better then 110.

1/. You can't change the lift of a 1004 or any other grind for that matter.
We can take the master cam and with the aid of a special piece of equipment, increase the lift (within limits) but that then involves making a new master.

2/. In respect to the "split", a cam like the 1004 @ 110 will have a rougher idle than a 1004 @ 112 or 114. The power band @ 110 will be lower down than @ 112 or 114. So, by opening up the phase angle you improve the idle and move the power band up the rev range.
