Hey All,
I was given a wade 1521a with 112 lobe sep. from a mate. Will it run alright in my el XR without a ported head? I know the 114 lobe sep 1521a will but I don't know much about the 112. The car it came from was fully ported and polished so thought I'd better check before installing it and perhaps damaging anything,

SIX

hey bud i have the wade 1521a @112. you will need stronger valve springs to run it. no need for a ported head if you dont want it.

i got the crow 115lb springs in mine

What is the part number for the springs?
Yeah J3 isn't a problem, did you run I set of shims or did you have to use 2?

7739-12 XR6 Valve springs 90lb .600" [stock retainer no machining]
7332-12 115lb .650" [crow retainer required unsure about machining]
7333-12 'Double' Valve springs 140lb .650" [crow retainer required unsure about machining]

id recommend the 115lb spring. dont bother with the xr6 springs as they cant cope up in the higher revs. blokes at the head shop got mine in without machining.
i think i got them for about $140
and if its a regrind then yeah you need to use 2 shims in the rockers.

People recommend just xr6 springs but when I spoke to Paul at cve he said something heavier was needed for this exact cam.

Wouldn't of been a decent port job!

well i had a pretty good look before and after and they did a pretty good job to me. made it alot smoother on the short side and clean up all the throats. left the intake side rougher to help fuel atomize and completely smooth exhaust side. done a few heads for a few AU turbos and speedway cars around my area. he mainly does race boats.

Did you get it on the dyno after the head work? If so what kinda increase in RWKW did you get coz that does seem almost too good to be true price wise haha

common practice for legit head jobbers is to measure before & after results on a flow bench.
