 gee you guys are very gentle after you guys change cams..
maybe im a bit rough
but i am confident about my work!
once i changed my cam and everything sounded good and was tight i let it run untill it was warm then just rev it to 3000 let the clutch go and floor it untill redline 1st and 2nd.
if something was going to go wrong it would have..
its only a cam change not a complete rebuild..

yeah after she's warmed up its got a smooth lump, not as muffled as the 1636.

But my trip computer is showing 21 litres per 100km so its running rich but has plenty of power. After having 138kw with the 1636, this cam feels alot stronger, could also be cause i fitted stronger valve springs.

Gonna go to chiptorque in the Gold Coast and they gonna do a before and after run and find a suitable program for the chip all for $695. Im hoping for 145+ kw after the chip

she will run rich cos the ecu has been reset, give it a week or 2 and then reset trip computer and she should run a fair bit better.

my mate with a 977b in a au motor daily driving gets about 12l/100km and when he puts the boot in it blows an a** load of black smoke( running rich as) in a 5 speed eb

yeah reason why im sticking with the 977b, chip, springs is because ive talked to someone who ran both the 977b and 1521a and he recommended i did not go 1521a cause the power curve goes way past the rev limiter whilst the 977b just finishes up before it cuts out.

1521a sounds good, but too impractical for what essentially still is a daily driven family car

yeh 1521a is for the nutters who are aiming at 180kw+ with 6250 rev limiters and s**t :P

My first time I did a cam change properly with the tensioner out. Didn't want anything to go wrong at 5000RPM. Better to have it at lower RPM if something was to go snap...though probably won't make much of a difference. I like to live on the safe side when my income depends on me getting to work...i don't like the idea of a 1.5 hour train trip to work if the car was to hit the fan.

FordFairmont, economy will drop over time. I'm still to see black smoke coming out of my exhaust at WOT. My economy at the moment doing highway driving is jumping between 8 and 10L/100km for the instant reading. Average so far is at 11.8L/100km with a bit more thrashing metro area (till speed limit only).

Quiet curious to see what the dyno reads when you get a run. I'm going to get it dynoed as well once I do some minor adjustments.

phong =P~

Just installed FordFairmonts old 1636 Wade cam in my car, VEry happy with it. Once she was all warm took it for a spin, lights up very easily, Idle is hunting a fair bit, actually stalled 3 times on me going out the driveway. Hasnt stalled since.

Im Very Impressed :D

Lol Video will be up once i get the thing running right. When we first started it i was very impressed with it, the idle hunting is annoying, makes it sound tough :P

give the car a week to settle and relearn timing, idle settings etc.

will feel stronger after it settles. When i resetted the ecu, the car wouldnt even hold an idle for a week, then would idle perfect.

Thought i would follow up on the results of the 977b cam with a custom tune. Yes i know dyno's are only a tuning tool, but the car certainly feels alot stronger, plus 3rd gear has plenty of power now as opposed to running out of puff before
