Just looking for peoples opinions on the 1673, yes ive read the Wade cams thread..... anyone got a vid with idle sound, or any dyno readings and 1/4 mile times?

Does the 1673 need any ignition advance, or will it work fine with a coil pack EF? I have a vernier gear, should i advance the cam timing with a 1673?

And do i need heavy duty valve springs for this cam?

ok being a 5 speed id go straight for the 977b.
its their best cam you can run without ecu and springs.

it sounds tough. has loads of power from 2800 or so onwards.

all car and cam combinations are different. you can't get a definitive answer on your cam timing unless you put it in and take it to a decent tuner.

a 1673 is a mix between 1636 and 977b so it has a bit better idle quality and slightly less power.

the 977b is the pick of the bunch for power and torque etc in my opinion. (as long as its tuned right)

yes but how would a 977b go with no adjusment to timing as is the case with EF and coil packs?

How long would the stock springs last? And the website says to use modified ecu, how does it go without one?

it will go fine, if you noticed improvement with the 1636 then i guess your car is going to like the 977b. its hard to tell how it will go without adjusting the timing.

some people claim lost power with a cam but thats usually cos their timing is probably retarded a few degrees or soemthing.

cool im keen to see if its got a different idle to the 1636..... i put in an order today for one.

I wasnt too sure about the 977b as Wade said its not recommended without modded ecu. Plus i dont have any ignition timing adjustment which mightve made it hard to get the best from it.

If im happy with my new cam, then my trusty 1636 Wade cam will be up for sale.

i will be asking 130 plus 20 postage as its fairly heavy.

yes i know wade sell the regrinds for 135 plus postage, but this is convenient for someone who doesnt wanna pay the extra 110 refundable deposit, then muck around with postage to send their old cam back.

I made just over 138kw at the wheels with this cam with improved intake and exhaust, and running manual. Im hoping the new cam will be some sort of improvement

I noticed no difference in idle between 1636 and 1673

I started the car tonight...tappets were ticking like crazy and left over oil was burning off, so I stopped the engine until tomorrow when I can see what is happening and to see if the ticking stops. Once it is all working well I shall take a video footage of the idle with a 1673.

Ohk so i just had a quick read, what do ppl think is better? the 1636 or the 1673? I have an stock auto and a full zorst with paccies will i be able to run the 1673? what do ppl think is better? I would really like my car to be quicker off the line than it is now! Cause if the 1636 is going to be better if you dont mind FordFairmont i can come and pick yours up off you when it is out of your car! if not i will get the 1673!

1673 will need a histall with an auto, it needs a good 2600+ rpm before it comes on, stick with the 1636 unless your planning to put a histall in, and possibly different diff gears.

but what if you advanced the cam timing a couple degrees with a vernier gear..... would that bring the powerband on earlier?

And danbode ive got someone interested, but if that falls through i'll let you know. And i live in Warwick so it would be a 2 hour drive for you to pick it up. Prolly could install it for you for another 50 bucks if needed...

The cam needs to be dialed in correctly, you cant just advance it x degrees hoping it will solve the issue.
Also advancing the cam will make it fall over at the top end earlier as well.

The car in question has a EA t5, so getting to 2600rpm in first isnt exactly going to be hard.
