Hi Guys.

As some of you know from my first post I recently bought this.

ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/introduction-mike-south-africa-ranchero-t100174.html

I have noticed that if I go for a drive of say 30km I will have to fill up the water bottle the following morning.

I would say the UTE takes between 1l and 2l of water after a drive which seems crazy.
Now it does not run hot, there are no visible leaks. I don’t know if they just self regulate like this, meaning the pressure blows out excess water and this is how it should be (level sitting slightly below the MIN mark)

Or if water is passing the gasket and evaporating out the exhaust manifold possibly?
I don’t want to tempt fate by seeing how low it will go, so have been topping up after each drive.

Can anyone with one of these cars tell me where their water level sits? Or if they have had a similar problem?

Oil is not milky, no mixing as far as we can tell.
There is no white smoke at all either.

Yea there definately was water coming out the cap, replaced it with a double washer version.
that seems to have solved that issue, but the water loss is still happening.

I have it booked in for the 23rd for a pressure test to see what the outcome is.

If you undo the rad cap when the engine is cold, is there still pressure in the cooling system.

No, there is no hiss or sound of pressure escape in the mornings when I check when its cold.
What would this indicate?

I did two head gaskets in my EF and with neither did I experience coffee in my sump, is there any rough idle at all? Can you see any water dripping on the ground? Had to replace the water pump in the wifes tribute as it's main seal had started pissing a similar amount of water.

Might mean there is a slight leak. I think there should be at least a slight hiss when the cap is open when cold.

I had this condition when my head gasket was leaking under the firing ring from the cooling system into a cylinder.

Hi, the idle could be a little rough but as I have only recently got it cant really tell what it should be like. There is no leaking water that we can see, but I will check out the water pump seal.

Thanks for you help.
