Hey guys, I'm having trouble doing the EL Falcon water pump. I've got this little rubber o-ring that goes on the pipe on theb ack of the water pump, when i go to put the pump on, it just pushes the o-ring back down the pipe rather than going into the pump.

The last two times I've had to pull the pump back off because its leaking from that pipe when the car is off.

I've seen this picture:"

Thats the o-ring im talking about. Is it supposed to go inside the pump when the pump is on, or sit on the outside of it?

How can I stop this from happening?

Last time I put it inside the water pump, on the edge where the pipe meets and silliconed it down, but it still leaked.

My max ellery's manual doesn't even mention it but obviously its needed.

its supposed to sit on the pipe but go into the water pump, i always use a little silicon on the o ring, it helps it slide into the pump and helps seal it...

Thanks mate, what do you use to seal the water pump? I'm using gasket maker, or should I just use sillicon?

you can use either on the pump gasket, but its not necessary..
i use a thin layer of silicon just to make sure, but they should seal fine with just the gasket..
the o ring i also use silicon, only because every new pump ive fitted with nothing has leaked a little at some stage..

Ah yep, I put some silicon on the o-ring itself, and some on the outside.

But maybe splash out and providing the pipe isn't corroded and broken, buy a new O ring. Shouldn't need sealant. But why not to be sure.

You just put a smear of vasoline around the o ring before you put it on. After the heater pipe was on I put some silicon just to be sure.
