first up is this round cirlcle thing, i think its to get access to the fuel tank?
Image

as you can see its rusted to the s**t. Would it be possible to just grab another one from the wreckers and straight swap them?

next is this steel pole that is located infront of the spare tyre

Image

This is also rusted like a b**ch and i want to take it out and paint it. Is this also connected to the tow bar?

thanks in advance.

p.s check spare tyre hole regulary, i found 1 litre of f*cken water there today!

the first pic is the cover to your fuel pump/sender unit in the top of the fuel tank and the second pic is a support bracket and bolts for your towbar, you can easily replace the fuel sender cover in the first pic, would be very cheap from wrekers, but i doubt you could replace the towbar bracket they vary, but you could try sanding the rust off and painting it blak.

yes whats said above is correct... just remove them give them a sand and a new coat of paint. there is no real point replacing them as the new ones will only last a few years then they will look the same

Here is a pic of my fuel pump cover in my 97 model EL Fairmont, 10yrs on and it still looks new. I would consider cleaning it up, painting it and then get some new boot rubber seal.

But in the future, if you ever need to get those rusted screws out to replace the fuel pump, you might have some dramas.

yep i have found the source of leak. Its a genuine mid 94 model.

reason i think its rusted so much is because the previous owner did not look after the car, and i doubt he ever opened the boot to see if there was water in there.
