Hey guys wondering if i can get some feeedback on what cam i should get. I got a 98 el ghia, auto, full exhaust system and CAI. Been told to get a wade 1636, i wanna go abit bigger maybe a 1673 or 1521a or 977b, what do you guys think? I wanna get abit more power from it. I shall be getting new and stronger springs and maybe shims if needed, also a j3 chip. Any feedback will be great.

Thanks Sam

Where do you want most of your power? Top end or middle? You'll also need another stall converter to go with the cam (as recommended on Wade's website).

+1 on the high stall convertor.

With the tall first gear of the BTR, the 4.0 needs help getting to peak torque ASAP. Even the mild XR6 cam would perform a lot better with a 2400-2600rpm stall. The hotter the cam, the more stall you need. My cam is one step up from XR6 - probably similar to a Wade 1636 - and ideal stall would be about 2700rpm. But personal preference comes into it too.

As for the cam, if you are keeping the auto and want to keep the Ghia a bit classy, better to go too mild than too wild. Even my mild cam pulls hard to redline (5700ish) and makes peak power at 5500rpm. Any more cam than that, and I would just be giving away driveability for minimal gain.
