probably computer work, but a decent exhaust, filter and cam will do wonders to an XR6

in that regard what cam do you get and do i need to do work to the injectors and leads, plugs or will it just bolt on no worries?

read other peoples posts on what cam they're using in thier I6's

i dont think the XR6's were downtuned that much, they just werent worked over hard enough to pose a problem for V8 sales

just been told that the xr6's were downtuned greatly so that it wouldn't beat or match the xr8's.
is this true? and if so does anyone know what ford or tickford did to downtune the engine from stock and how to reverse it so it runs harder without massive mods ie cam, exhaust.

thanks
wobbo

youre probably thinking of the MOPAR hemi's that were de-tuned to meet road law requirements....tune in up, advance the timing and BANG u got urself another 100 horses.....something like that :)

I personally think its a myth. The 6's got a fair bit of development work and new technology (BBM's, VCT, etc), they 8's didnt get much attention until the late e-series. Hell even the throttle body on the 8 is smaller than the 6.

wade 1636-- yes i love it. lumpy after it was run in.
performance --grreat
got the ticky head ported ,polished and some chamber work
fuel- yes it guzzles when heavy foot use- which i do all the time
already got xr6 gear which includes the ecu, probably wouldnt have run well if at all without it so ive been told..

thoroughly recommend the cam to any one. :D

wade 1004@112
1/4 mile speaks for itself considering the mods i have done.
Very happy with it and cheap too (122 dollars from a group buy)

Well dude depends on what you want out of the cam.
Like i discussed with southy, have you thought about going with a CROW cam or similar.
He has obviously had some great results out of his cam. PM him or speak to him, he has been pretty helpful, in helping me decide on a cam etc.

well twin im not sure if i want acceleration or top end speed in terms of what type i couldn't really care.
i was heading towards alted because ive heard of them being really good cams and a few people have recomended them but a stage 3 was looking to cost me $600+ and that is a bit expensive for my likings but it needs to be lumpy i hate smooth idleing. i just want a cam that will make the car feel more like it movin so any info is helpfull.

plus my work is about 5 min from where i live so i don't care how much fuel i use and long trips i normally take mates cars. but im keen on gettin everyone thoughts.

i have the older wade 1004-14. Great cam, good idle, nice powerband. On my website under media theirs a video of how my car accelerates 0-180kmh(speedo reads approx 15km/h to high on average due to diff gears) this is matched with 3.73:1 diff gears, pacemaker extractors, 2.5" exhaust and tick tock tickford intake.

is it worth the money southy and did you have any head work done before installing the cam?
