When i had a timing light on my Eb with a AU motor the mark would move slightlu in advance of the timing mark then back...... it was doing it at random. I know AUX shaft failier could be one of the reasons but i highly dought it as I havnt been for a decent drive since i put the motor in.
I used a new Dizzy with the AU Gear on the dizzy...

What can cause this apart from AUX shaft failuer?

The ECU...
as in, it's supposed to move around unless you have the timing locked in diagnostic mode.
