the reason why i say this is i had me fingers burnt with the 6 I bought a 95ef fairmont for $8600 with 180090km within the 6months i owned it it devolped coil pack probs, fuel pump, auto box not pickin up when cold, radiator blocked and the list goes on, i got the car valued by a dealer 4 trade in they said $4500-$5000 if luck it had 194000 when i got ride of it i have a EB fairmont ghia V8 with the full leather interior not tha 60/40crap
try and look for private sales as some times you will find there is v8 out there sittin in some grandads garage got crap all km's probly even a deceased estate or auctions you will love the noise and appreciate the v8 but be prepared for petrol if you have a lead foot but if you dont boot it and treat it like a 6 she will drink like a 6

Pick up and power for 10 large..... turn the clock back a couple of decades, lol.

Seriously tho - Falcon hardtop if you can find one. Have to work an e series pretty hard to keep up with an XA coupe 351

For 10g's, I definately look for an EL Fairmont/ghia with the tickford motor.
That way you've got the best of both worlds.

I'm spewin that I ever got rid of mine, however I've recently picked up a 5.0 EB Fairmont for $3500, so now I've got $6500 to spend on it to make it truely worthy!

yep go an XA or XB they are the most sexy things on two wheels and unlike the EA - ELs they are increasing in value a very good investment if you ask me. drop a good 351 and your set not tghe best every day car of course but who cares they have 195kw stock.... but the fuel bill will be high

You could buy my XF for the special FordMods only price of $1K and spend the other $9K on it and have an absolute beast!!! LOL!!! I got my 12/97 EL Gli Sapphire with 142,000kms for $6,200 but I would be looking for a decentish XB coupe with a five one for $10K

I found the other week an EL Fairmont for $7000, with 12 months warranty an dunder 200,000 km. Perhaps you could go somthing better with 10k, and get an AU or something. Maybe i just found a good deal

what about an ED XR?? you would have some cash spare to spend on it, plus insurance and any problems would be easier to pay for...

Spare money could buy wheels and some headers and exhaust?
