if dynos were a realiable indicator of power and all the info was enterd in right, in theory the power should be same all the time.
but we all know it's not going to be.

it will be interesting to see what happens

i believe chassis dynos and engine dynos are a realiable indicator of power !!!!!!

yes kwatts should be within a few kwatts of each gear , the only difference will be at what speed we will be travelling.

steady_ED no the position is open for a manual still but the gentleman ( smiley235 ) that replied before u hasn't yet indicated whether his vehicle is manual or auto so he has first option and if he declines then the ball is in ur court.

If im reading it right smiley235 is a auto but will wait for his reply

and anyone after that , will have a small fee to pay if they want there car run up on the dyno.

cheers

I've had runs done back to back in 2nd, 3rd and 4th (BTR auto), 3rd produced the most power. I assume because we hit the speed limiter early in 4th, and 2nd suffers through the gearbox more.

In 2nd I got a 138RWKW
In 3rd, 150RWKW
In 4th, was something horrible, it is after all an overdrive gear and hit the limiter at 3500rpm.

To the dyno, it doesnt matter what gear the car is in - 300NM at 60kph is the same as 300NM and 80kph. I remember reading an interview with the operator who runs the HP heroes at the Summernats and he said running in lower gears will get you maybe 2HP.

To the car it does matter somewhat though. You lose a bit of power in higher gears due to drive train parts spinning faster at higher speeds and eating up a bit of extra power.

On road, my car also hits higher loads in higher gears and the tune changes. In 1st and 2nd I get an AFR of low 12's at WOT and in 3rd and 4th its high 12's/low 13's. I dont believe this is an issue on the dyno though since it has better control over engine load.
