My 250000 plus EA motor took alot of abuse from the turbo but suprisingly dig very well until the rings started to leak... still nothing shot out the side even under 18psi
I'll be testing out the ED motor with 209000 kays on it... nothing over 12psi this time though |

I've heard the EFs are quite good because they have a coil, not a dizzy.
Just another thought...

And wern't the EL's well known for Ford's cost cutting due to soon releasing the all new Falcon - AU's. |

Well actualy the more coils you run the higher the engine will rev, nissans run six coils, commodores run three and so do EF's, from a technilogical piont they are far more advanced. They give no more problems than dizzy's, to be honest i have changed far more dizzy's in the fords than coil packs. |

ELs were pretty much a "We've got lots of these left over, lets get rid of them"

Don't be surprised that it could have been supply related, and certainly it would have soaked up surplus components before their exclusive move toward coilpacks.

I think its been well discussed that the EF seemed to have a number of electrical design issues that were resolved / upgraded in the AU release, which provided a better quality, more reliable end product that didnt cost as much to run. How many people do you hear complain about dud coil packs and idle/ECU problems in an AU compared to an EF. Nothing wrong with the engine design though, considering they are basically the same engine, just the electrical drivers that are different. In the end, it does the same job and both approaches work well. |

I'm yet to fault my EL Hybrid, quite a nice engine, although maybe a bit harder to find than most others.
