neither of my E series have that, i'm stumped? Could it be some sort of thing that sits inside the filler tube and has fallen into the tank?

I have put the fuel pump back in, fuel gauge working again, diagnostic mode showed correct litres and sender resistance.

The pipe is sitting on my table until i find out where it goes, it has probably been floating around in the tank for a few days/years???. It had jammed the float down.

yeah its the anti syphon tube, I had the same issue, it fell from the filler pipe into the tank and fouled the level indicator, can be removed.. don't even try and put it back in, I tried thinking it was for something more inportant.

The back rubber dong can be removed from the back of your car now.

Its to help stop fuel surging up the filler neck.

  Well then it's been floating around the tank since I have owned the car. 4yrs. I have always had a bit of fuel surging out when filling the tank right up too the fill mark. It never really had bothered me until this happened.

I gave the surge pipe a new home... THE WHEELIE BIN
