It have been confirmed that my ED engine has blow-by and will require it to be either rebuilt or replaced, I am not sure how long the engine will last (250,000 dual fuel), blowby has been happening for 2 months now.
I don't know what to get, here are my options:

A)...rebuilt existing engine
B)...buy a simlilar low Ks S/H ED engine
C)...try to get hold of an EBsII/ED XR6 engine
D)...EF engine
E)...AU engine

I am not sure what is involved in getiing a EF/AU engine into a ED, however on ebay atm they are selling a modified ready to drop in AU motor.
I would really appreciate your help on the choices and costs involved in all of the above

Thanks Adam

AU or EF/EL engine.
Bolt on all your bits, auxilaries, manifolds, slot it in, easy.
As long as you can do it yourself/with the help of mates.

Go with the AU engine, if there's no money owing on the car and it doesn't owe you too much I'd do what the others say and flog it off. It's duel fuel so hopefully somebody will want it :) Also what's 'blowby' if its like black stuff coming out the exhaust, say rev the car with a piece of paper in front of it and you get black stuff? If that's the case mines been like that for over a year and still goes alright.

Yeah I know of one car in particular that had a fair amount of blowby and still pulled 14 sec passes like it aint no thang.
Whats with people saying flog it?
Not like your gonna get any money for the f**k thing, its an ED.
Why bother? Run em into the ground, flog the parts and scrap the shell.
Then grab another one :D
If it was me, I'd rip the gas out, and flog the system.
Buy my new motor with the cash and still have change for the strippers.

Apparently blow-by is created when one of the rings is cracked and causes the pressure to go into another part of the engine, i think, its basically my car is using excessive oil and air comes out of the oil dipstick.

I fully own my car and do not want to sell it as it not very common to find a ED dual fuel stock manual.

I am quite willing to give it a go by myself putting an AU engine in, are there dilemmas with the ECU side of things.

What would I get for the car do you think?
ED Futura Classic, 5 spd dual fuel, XR6 bootlid with rubber bootlip spoiler
mods:extractors and exhaust, XG snorkal, dual fuel, Brock body kit, XR6 front seats, clear indicators, new tyres 4 weeks ago, tow bar, trip computer

Personally i think selling it would be a C*** act if I didn't disclose what was wrong with it!

It is a C*** act, wouldn't be able to sell it on forums without it coming back to bite you in the a***.
Depending on ks, from 2-5, manuals are pretty rare, but its only a futura.
Dual fuel is a bonus for some people (not me :P).
But then add the fact its got really f**k rings by the sounds of it (pressuring crankcrase enough to blow out dipstick lol), will be hard to move.
As I said, probably not worth selling.
Theres probably more money in the parts.
ED Manual convo with ECU.
Brock kit, XR seats, extractors... LPG...

My current engine should last 6+ months, I've been thinking today, for simplicity and insurance reasons I should go for the ED XR6 engine 162Kw vs AU 159Kw pfff, what should i expect to pay for a ED XR6 engine.
