hi all, when i start my car its an AU falcon, a beeping sound starts (not the one that tells me i got low fuel) and DTE comes up on the dash.....any1 know what this is? plz help

Just check to see if the ALT is charging to start with.

did you read your owners manual?? DTE stands for Distance To Empty. how much fuel is in it?

someone with an AU should be able to confirm it does it all the time, just to let you know how far you have to go.

ive had the car for 1 week now but my grandad has a AU fairmont and his doesnt do it

if theres less then 80km/tank it will beep.. also if the door is open i believe it will also...

Can also be due to airbag warning.
Also sometimes I have seen the speedo not quite sit on Zero ... and when the handbrake is engaged (and in Park) ... it will beep ... as the car is sensing forward movement from the speedo ... but with handbrake engaged. usually a faulty speedo gear in the auto. Mine did it ... and stopped when I had the auto replaced. Also was getting a faulty code for the speedo gear as well.

my brother in law has an au xr6 and he had the buzzing/beeping sound and it was the washer bottle low water alert ... if its not you fuel mate try that .. cheers
