OK isnt that the thermo fan switch or is it also the temp sender for the guage in the car?

That is the temp sender for everything in the car.

There is no thermo fan switch as such. The ECU reads the engine temperature using that sensor in the lower thermostat housing, and uses that along with other information such as the speed of the car and if the aircon is running to switch fans on/off. The temperature guage is also set from this.

Earlier e-series models had up to 3 temperature sensors jammed in the lower thermostat housing providing information to the ECU, guage and climate control.

Yeah. I thought so but had a bloke at repco swear black and blue that there was 2. Sold me one like the XF use. I got home and looked everywhere. Not there. Rang ford they told me the same as above. Went back to repco and said WTF. Dude would not serve me. Oh well. Money back and went else where to get it. all done now.
