Is he Swanny?

The guy who tuned my car from Bullet Performance Racing said he had a bloke in there called Swanny that made nearly 200rwkw with an NA E series Falcon.

He said it was s**t to drive and had a fairly short powerband but it made good power.

Pretty impressive seeing as I only made that with 5psi.

He said it was s**t to drive and had a fairly short powerband but it made good power.
That leans towards to much camshaft to compensate for lake of port flow.

a good head will need less camshaft and will have a good power spread.

and from what I have seen, with a good cam, headwork isn't required while staying N/A. Power on a Dyno is one thing, driveability is another. OED666 has the perfect example of that. 165rwkw, 13.8@101mph. There are cars with more power that are significantly slower. I can name one forum member who made 175rwkw but can only manage a 14.2, another made 225rwkw turbo'd and ran a 13.7....

stating times doesn't prove a thing.
tell me how heavy the cars were and what MPH they did, THEN we can start comparing things.

OED - 1640kg - 101mph. 165rwkw
Turbodrift - 1650kg - 100mph. 185rwkw
BrockyB8 - 1650kg, 99mph. 183rwkw

no one is making excuses here.
It pretty simple, MPH doesn't lie, the car may vary 3mph or so, but even on a s**t run the mph will be close. (unless you do something dumb like miss a gear change.)

Your numbers don't add up. Either the weights are wrong, or people are claiming power they don't have. My guess is both, as dynos are full of s**t and poeple tend to over claim.
As for the weights, Being so such even numbers, I highly doubt those are weight as read from a weight bridge or the scales at a drag strip.

It always funny to read threads like this and see all the claiming and numbers and comparing that gets thrown around. As anyone who has spent any real time in drag racing can see right through it all.

Agree with the crazy man tinkering in the shed above.

MPH don't lie. Even if you have a s**t launch, your MPH will only be out by a small amount whilst the clock keeps ticking.

So i took my car down the 1/4 mile with the WPN Head - best MPH i got was 98mph But Swannys car with a WPN Head got 3 x 102mph

Best time i got was 15.3970 @ 94.34MPH - 60ft - 2.3495

Swanny was in the 14's all day - a** hole lol

By the way this is his old car EVILEL NA 6cyl that did a 13.77 - here is the video http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b229/Evil_EL/?action=view&current=bed87d4e.flv the same head is in his new car that ran the 3 x 102mph

Some issues was that my Stall only stalled to 2,200 not 3,000 - 60 footers were 2.395+ ppl who have run 13's have 60 footers at 2.000

And my Auto was shifting gears at 6000+ (6100 to 6500) per change when my car only makes power to 5,000 - everyone knows how important correct shifting is down the 1/4 mile

So i have my Shifts changed to shift at 5,500 and I am looking at getting a Jim Mock 3000 Hi Stall with Trans Cooler - $1,270 fitted - I want something that works - the current stall in my car is a TCI 3000 Hi Stall and hell yeah it was cheap but it dont stall to 3000

Heathcote have a test and tune day on 13/06/2010 - i may go for a run and see if ONLY changing the shift points gets my a better 1/4 mile and trap speed - i wont get a good 1/4 mile until i can get a good take off - 2.000 60 footers - I just want to prove to some people that if I changed the Shifts from 6100 to 6500 to 5,500 i will get a better 1/4 mile as there are some who think this wont change anything :)

Should have all that sorted for the AFF Drag Day on 24/07/2010 - flyer below - thread is up on AFF Vic Meets if you want to come along and your a member on AFF

My AU1 VCT XR6 Auto has a rego sticker of 1450kg and yes that is tare. My car which has factory IRS was weighed on the local council weighbridge at 1680kg with a bare minimum of fuel. Take my weight out and it's 1600kg neat.

quite possibly because your car isnt making the power to flash the stall to its maximum rated stall rpm

My BTR auto equiped 1720kg Fairmont Ghia with me and a full tank of juice made 274rwkw and spat out a lazy 15.5 at 125mph. How does that stack up. Mind you the same combo with decent tyres and 189rwkw did a best of 13.008 at only 108mph.

Nah its been tested on a few dyno's.... Trap speed don't lie & that's with shifts at wrong rpm

Looking at the TCI invoice from 09/05/09 it says I paid $320 for it with Lock Up and when I called them today and asked TCI for a 3000 Hi Stall they tell me it costs $660 and can't be made with lock up.

I am thinking they may have sold me a STD stall :( it does flash to 3000 plus when I put the boot in but it also gears down at the same time, if I hold it in gear and floor it then it doesn't flash to 3000rpm

I am going to Heathcote this weekend as my shifts are at 5500 and see if I can get my trap speed to 100mph

He means your engine doesn't make the torque required around the 2000-3000rpm range to flash the converter to 3000rpm. I guaranty if you fit your converter to an engine with more low end torque it will flash higher.

Why not just send your converter to the The Converter Shop and have them modify your converter.

Those numbers stack up, capable of high 11 low 12 with 125mph for your heavy car :) obviously you had alot of wheel spin, trouble changing gears, stock stall or something else went wrong...... Use decent tyres and get better numbers although Mickey T tyres are sticky as but they will put more stress on the driveline and will break the weak point

my torque curve is pretty steady all through the rpm, it's 400n below max between 2000 & 3000 rpm - do you know what torque I need

tickford_6 wrote:

it's my daily so can't have it off the road for long.....

If I sold the TCI Hi Stall I can bet no one would buy it as a high stall as it doesn't work in my car so I would put money on it they would think it wouldn't work in there car as well

thanks for the suggestion and advice - I assume the convertor shop is not in Vic?
