yeh, i know its not the end of the world, but i just like to complain!

i guess with modern technology it still s**t me they cant think up something better than a rubber hose!

oh well, might see if i can get a ride to an auto store and pick up some new coolant, distilled water and i guess some car ramps might be a good idea, no doubt ill use them again. better than using a stack of large pavers from around the back.

I know its frustrating when something goes wrong with your car but for f**k SAKE GAZ DONT CALL AN EF A POS OR I WILL KILL YOU. hahahah just kidding.
Get some Nulon full strength coolant and 10 litres of demineralised water.

Changing the hose wont be hard.

just replace it and then go and get a new coil as well cause i bet ya it will go the day after you changed it ,because the coolant piss's out everywhere all over the coil and it will f**k it so get a coil when you go and get the hose

well, im off to get some parts!

stands
ramps
redline water wetter (what was in there so i dont need to flush it)
distilled water

i think thats all i need to waste my money on now.. but no doubt i will be putting in an order to hitek brakes tonight for some slotted's and EBC's to stop that rubbing/grinding noise from the brakes up front.

what next? just waiting for the head gasket to go ;)

fail safe cooling? hows that work?

actually was introduced in the au range :) bar v8's xr6vct and dual fuel, e gas

basically ecu shuts down spark/fuel to cylinders allowing the car to be driven to be repaired

more than likely 30km hr...

if the computer shuts off the fuel and spark how does it run???

i think u mean limp home mode where you get minimal items turn on but at a limited and most times rough speed

The computer has strategies to shut down individual cylinders in the attempt to keep the engine cool, alternating between cylinders ,if it gets to hot it will shut down the engine totally. There is an extra temp sender on the back of the head to measure the rear temp, basically it just calculates between front and rear temps to work out what cylinders need to be shut down etc. (I still have my technicians s**t Ford sent out for Au's somewhere, includes about VCT release too)

I have nothing but praise for the RACQ service person that came out to me one night...

Just pulled in the driveway at home, and bang, steam p****d out everywhere...

Even though I was in my own backyard, they still sent someone out for me...

He fixed the problem, by cutting the split part of the heater hose out and reconnecting it (was a bit short, had a kink in it) and told me to replace it as soon as I could.

Champion.

The RACQ guys probably know some neat little tricks like this. But what i've found is that when they rock up, if they can't see or fix the problem within 2 minutes, too bad. Like Martin said, in most cases if you don't need fuel or a new battery it's "cya later i'll call you a tow truck".

When i had my xf and the tfi module was playing up once it wasn't starting. The guy came all the way out to my house, looked at it, didn't even test anything, and said "these motors are s**t you should get a new car or do a carby conversion". I know the motors are tempremental in them but f**k, the guy was getting payed to do his job, not tell me to get a new car.
