I like the sound of the fater torque from the 1604, but I'd prefer the lumpy idle from the 1004.. isn't there a cam with the best of both worlds?

Just out of curisoity, would there be any benefit to placing the extra shim in each rocker arm for a standard EA cam??? ie. 2 shims p/arm.

Would doing this with a standard cam push the valves out too far and hit the heads?!?!?

the car wouldn't run at all.
the shim would take all of the adjustment in the lash adjuster and hold the valves open
