hey guys,
have a real wierd one with my el ghia.
The car started running really roughly when i was under a quarter left in the tank. So i figured it was a blocked fuel filter so i changed it with no success. I then thought maybe its ingnition so i changed the leads and distributor cap again with no success. I then thought maybe the filter in the tank was dirty so i took the whole tank out and cleaned it blew through the fuel lines with compressed air, and again still ran badly. I'm starting to think it maybe an injector problem not sure though! the problem happens underload between 2000-3000rpm and it misfires and runs horribly, it also splutters a bit idling. Another thing is it had a new coil put in last week due to a washing under bonnet incident and has run perfectly since.
Sorry about the long thread but i'm running out of money and patience!!
If anyone has had similar problems or if anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated!!!

How many K's has she done?

Does it have trouble at higher revs?

A blocked cat could give you these symptoms, rare but has happened.
The Dizzy modules are prone to failure also, don't forget that one!
Injectors might need a clean/reco but thats about $150.
Search for vacuum leaks, reset the ecu, hell.. even look fos sticking valves!

hey guys thanks for the reply!
nah haven't changed the plugs yet, slack i know will be happeing first thing tomorrow morning!, yeh all new leads were put on, coil to dizzy included.
It's funny you say the cat problem, as tonight i ran it in the pitch blak darkness to look for jumping spark, and the cat was glowing. not the whole thing but the flange to the inlet of the cat was a cherry red thought it was strange but didnt think anything of it. How much are new injectors?

hey guys all fixed.
I changed the plugs with no success so i went and had a chat to the local ford mechanic and he decided with me that it sounded electrical. Although I had changed the coil last week he gave me his test coil just to try. So i did and low and behold it ran like a dream clean power delivery no misfiring! Really wierd!!
So although it annoys me i changed all those parts at least i have some new parts hanging around!!
This coil is a bosch one a little more expensive but hopefully its better quality!
