hi guys

im trying to put a pod filter onto my au fairmont and trying to work out whether to give the air box the flick or put the pod in the box and increase the airflow with a 3'' pipe to a snorkel under the bumper.

It has factory fitted gas, and there is a small diameter metal sheathed hose seemingly coming from the gas system to the front of the airbox where the standard snorkel attaches to the box, joined to an elbow inside the box end of the snorkel which points into the airflow.

my question is this: wat does it do? (ie do i need it?)

i cant see any way to get rid of the box if its an integral part of the gas, thats all.

could be easier... therefore less fun. ;p

heres wat im thinkin, now i know i prob need this thing;

1. i lose the box, put the pod where it sat and mount the pipe in the stock snorkel that i leave in place.
2. i lose the box, put the pod where it sat and mount the pipe in the induction hose further up from the pod.
3. i keep the box, put the pod inside, leave the pipe where it is and bung another snorkel underneath the bumper to the bottom of the box.
4. mount the pod under the bumper, piss off the stock snorkel and connect the pod to the molding on the box where the snorkel attached.

thoughts?

why dont you just slip in a k and n panel filter and use a BA turbo snorkel. looks better is easier to do and you will probably get the same performance.

and get an EF lid for the box and run a short section of 3 pipe from the box to the flex elbow

AND read this
ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/guide-to-ford-6cyl-updated-weekly-t83794.html
4th heading from the top and you'll soon owrk out why we are telling you not to use the pod.
There is also the article from autospeed where they flow tested a bunch of air boexes, that will explain why people tell you to use the EF lid.

its a balance pipe to the gas converter, it see's ram air as the car moves forward and applys the same pressure to the back of the diaphram in the converter, as so the car does not stall out under decell at traffic lights etc. air being pushed in through the mixer ring but the throtles closed = too much gas= stall out

Dude i know your 17 but stop being a gay f**k and just buy a K and N panel filter you might think your fully hectic saas pod is FULLY SICK BROOOOOOOOO but its s**t when i was 18 i wanted one too and i got one as well, but i made an adapter to to go on my el and its still there to this day mainly because i cbf spending another $150 on the s**t tank, pod filters should only be used on turbo cars because its the only place they look half decent. Rant over.
