Hello all,

Have tried a search with no such luck and
just wanted to ask, if anyone knows, or has had, oil pressure
problems using a remote engine oil filter and cooler on a 4l i6.
just wanted to be sure before i invest in one

thanks for your time.. :)

Do you know if losing a few psi would have much of a negitive effect?

Cheers man.

I'm about to put a perma cool remote filter kit on my I6...

If there is no leak and nowhere else for the oil to go.. it can't drop pressure can it?

What I am ensuring, is that all oil lines and filters remain full of oil when the engine is off..

If the pump had to fill all the lines and filters every time you fired up your motor.. you'd be without oil in your engine for considerably longer.

Think about it though.. if it is a totally sealed system, how can you have a pressure drop?

Just make sure you use good quality braided hose. The cheap a*** rubber hose will expand under pressure and cause a pressure loss at the engine. Engine oil coolers are not really needed unless your running heaps of compression, or a turbo, or something like that that generates a LOT of heat in the engine. It will not fix an overheating engine caused by a dodgy radiator, etc.

If I was running a big turbo that was dumping oddles of frying hot oil back into the sump.. I'd want a cooler there for longevity.. but I don't think there is much point on an NA car. The remote Oil filter kits are cool... I'm going to mount mine inside the front guard under a cover of some sort.. that way I can just turn the wheel, reach in and pop it off.. nice..

LOL, just had the thought of extending the sump drain and putting a tap where where.. then you can change the oil with out ever getting under the car.. :-)
