what do thay do? do you need them? when u put a cam in what part do thay play?

Shims sit in the rocker arms above the lifters. They are used to put the lifter in the right place. If you put a regrind cam in, the rocker arms dont sit in the same place so you need more shims to put the lifter back into the right position.

Depends what kinda shims!
You get the ones for your rocker gear. Ones for camber kits, etc. |
