Hey lads just got back from the races, Ive got a question

My falcon, mods are : Port polished shaved head, RPD R6 cam+verner gear (not dialed up sitting on 0) , 4499 extractors and 2 1/2inch exhaust, ss inductions snorkel with 3 inch mandrel pipe with K&N filter, car is auto, just under 200,000kms

Mates Fairmont, Mods : cheap pod in a box, Wildcat extractors 2 1/2 inch exhaust, auto 267000kms.

We raced from 40kms running start, The whole time i only just managed to get him by a nose length by the end? somthing must be up I should have smoked him yes? i am at a loss to what happened, he has nothing else done but the mods listed anyone have any suggestions,
im cut ive spent thousands on it only to nearly get smoked by a near stock fairmont

i am at a loss to understand why my car is performing so bad. Ive serviced it the works but its still underperforming  any qlues?

the wheels you've got wouldnt have helped, less you used steelies

and is he telling you the full story with what his running?

for the most part though, you've both removed most of the engine restrictions. all the other stuff is only the 1% sorts of things

The car is stock I work on it for him all the time, he has done things like get the fuel injectors cleaned, new standard fuel pump, and a EL XR6 Fuel pressure regulator sorry left that out, u think that could be it?

from racing from a rolling start isnt exactly accurate. all it takes is a slight difference in the time you accelerate and then youve gotta pull from behind

Wouldn't really worry about the k's (as I will explain in a sec), but yea, sombody made mention of your wheels, its like dropping your diff ratio :P

But yea, old snowman off her a few years back, he had this red eb auto, it used to fly. motor had 250+ thousand k's on (had this car back in '05, way more k's than yours :P) used to run like a swiss watch, never really serviced it, the head was leaking, leaked oil allover the driveway.... but was that good a motor.

Sombody is going to post back telling me that my next statement is just rubbish, but i'm a firm believer that there are some motors that roll off the production line as absolute gems.

I need a 4.11 LSD and a bigger cam and then try again :x with the wheels would they have to be replaced all around or could I get away with just putting stockies on the back??

Not all eseries are created equal. Just depends how well the engines have held up over the years. For instance I changed from a hybrid EL motor to an EF XR6 motor which is supposed to have only minimal increase but the difference it made was phenomenal just because my old engine was f**k.

Hahaha, wheel weight.......yea forgot about that, my ed xr rims are that much heavier than my 14" steelies, even tho the steelies have cheesecutter width tyres, and the xr's have 225's. Big chrome wheels........yea I can imagine some fairly decent weight.
