when the #1 clyn on the ign mark on compression stroke with rotor on number 1 clyn for dissy cap it's not right should i be on TDC instead :? what do i line the dissy up with as it's now getting to the pour petrol on the thing!!!!!

can someone advise the best way to clear fault codes with only a test light and set up timing pls

Mate, don't let it get to you.
The safest way is to remove the valve cover, and wind the engine over by hand until you get the timing mark on the balancer near to the timing indicator on the timing case. Check and see if either of the valves on number 1 cylinder (the front one) are opening or closing. If yes, turn the crank one more full rotation, and number 6 will them have the valves opening/closing. The engine is now on TDC, firing on number one. Fit the distributor back in, and make sure rotor is pointing at the lead for #1. It should start in this position, and just move it back or forwards a bit till it runs sweet. You will need to get a timing light to make sure it is 100% accurate, but this should get you out of trouble.
Good luck.
