I am about to put a XH falcon engine in to my 3.9L NC Fairlane. And i was just wondering will i have any issues with the timing pining with out the knock sensor hooked up. Can i still use my 3.9L ECU ?

Any info would be good

Cheers Rick

Should have No issues mate just bolt up your intake and everything onto it and will run fine.

yeah if ya can slowly get the bits cheap its well worth it but yes, especially if your auto its alot of wiring... i did it and i had to get a smartlock bypass... re-wire the auto over to the ECU, manifold switching wires, power steering pressure switch pin needed to be moved. lots of wiring fun. My car was EB1 so it was as good as a NA / EA with the ED was alot easier, just basically plug it in almost :P

The only thing I can think of is the harmonic balancers - the XH runs a single serpentine belt - I don't know whether the extra add on pulleys that your NC has just bolt onto the XH balancer, or the balancers need to be swapped.
Someone will obviously clarify this.

Parts are my biggest issue i can get them but people want to much for them. I thought u still use the transmission ecu ? It sounds like a lot of stuffing around just for a extra kw. I already got the usual mods 2 1/2 inch exhaust, k&n filter and the XH snorkel. Which would help a bit. Just wondering if i should put 4.0L ecu in to the car or just leave it.

you would need to run an EL manual ecu or did a resistor trick on the auto ecu to run an el auto comp or it will be in limp home...mine chewed alot of fuel and lost power before i ran the auto off the ECU...

i wouldnt bother running an EBII or ED 4L ecu you wouldnt notice anything and again would need a smartlock bypass...

the EL ecu and intake is very much worth it you gain about 15kw up high and ALot of torque down low.

I might put the el manifold on just see what happens. I just don't think it's worth all the hassle. Because by the time i get all the parts and rewire the engine loom it's gonna be a hassle. And i think i might have issues with me climate control & cruise control using a el computer.

nah the climate control and trip comp is fine with the EL ecu.... you just need to change the Trip comp signal wire to pin 58 on the Ecu.

yes its a big job though.
