dumb question, i have an xm falcon, the head just got done and they said it was off a 140 engine.. I and the mechanic were under the impression it was a 170 under the bonnet. now I thought maybe it was a smaller head on a 170, how do I know exactly what my engine is? how do i check?

Unfortunately they don't have the CI casted on the block like Holdens do.
It could be a 170 with a 144 head slapped on it.
Maybe grab the casting number off the block and try a google search, i'm sure there will be a site for numbers somewhere.

give that a shot, i dont understand why it would be a 140 engine.. why would someone take out the original and go down not up, beats me
