i have a ef fairmont that a put a el xr6 head on and it realy makes a differance to responce and mid range. the advantage is that u are getting a bigger intake valve and better chamber shape. u can use your cam gear if u wont to run a early model cam pre au and hybrid. or u can run the latter cam gear with a latter model cam. use a au head gasket and get it shaved down 10-20 thou for a compresion rise. hope this helps.
