Hi guys, I have a 2009 XR6 FG and it's proving to be impossible to getting any performance upgrades for this thing.
So far I have pacemakers, high flow cat, a manta Y split cat back and a CAI with K&N Pod.
But beyond this it's proven to be a mission finding anywhere that either sells parts, or will do any work on this car.
I've spent the last 2 weeks contacting local workshops and distributors through out Aus trying to get a Harrop LSD and gears so I can improve my diff ration and get a bit more performance.
But it's proven to be impossible.
I can't find any workshops that will do regrinds or get billet cams.

I'm beginning to think my only option left is to buy a flash tuner and do that myself, then install a coil over kit.

Has anyone had any luck getting this stuff for their FGs? If so where did you get it?
I'm at my whits end with this sucker :x

Even if you get a flash tuner, you can't alter the tune yourself. All the flash tuner does is allow you to upload the new tune and possibly alter a few basic parameters the 'tuner' enabled for you access to.

Atomic performance does cams for the fg.. As well as a fair few other little things.
Umm taipan Motorsport... Umm there are more but can't think of much off the top of my head...

Yeah I understand that, but I'm reaching a level of desperation where I don't mind spending the money just for a little reward.
There are 2 decent workshops in my city and neither of them can do anything for me.

One upside!- A few hours of research today and I have found a site in America that sells diff gears. So now I need to find out what ratio I can get for the FGs M80 28 spline

Just buy everything yourself, and either install yourself or get them to install it for you.
If money's no big issue, then you'd be better off getting products from down south anyways... Cause as far as I'm aware there isn't much north of Brisbane really.

There really isn't anything up here at all.
Thanks for the info, I'm looking them up now :)

The main issue I am facing right now is a lack of info. I've tried doing a lot of searches and most of what I find is just speculation with no answers afterwards or people saying how their build went.

I don't want to go too far off topic from general mods for the FG, but specifically in terms of Diffs, is there a limit to the diff ratio each housing can handle? Or am I able to just whack 4.86:1 gears in the stock M80 diff?

On a positive not I gotta say that this car does take really well to intake, and complete exhaust overhaul :D

yeah the hot scene at the moment seems to be B series mods, but slowly FG's are getting a foot hold as the prices come down and they become more accessible to those that want to tinker. Good figures seem to be coming out from little money spent... so there are products out there, but like you said just hard to find the info and the feedback.

throw up a build thread to help the FG cause if you want, so others can see what to do/how much it costs/gains/difficulties/etc... the more people put feedback/info out there the better it will be for all involved really... i got a build on mine (link on my sig.), though most of it is just talking s**t haha. but there are a few good things in there... already pointed a few people in the right direction.

Wow! That's like 4WD spec.

This is why I ask questions! :D
So what is a good diff ratio?
I have seen something like the 3.7 range recommended on these forums a few times.
So Harrop do an LSD http://www.carmodsaustralia.com.au/harr ... ttrc9830-0 If I were to buy that, where could I get the gears and pinion to fit it. Plus the 30 spline tail shaft what other parts would need to be replaced?

From what I saw the other day, Taipan Motorsport no longer distribute crow cams and all that stuff. They are back to only selling WeaponX coils and Launch Control. Quite heart breaking really, because their cams were a good couple hundred dollars cheaper than actually going through Crow themselves.

Diff ratio wise, a 3.7 would be nice. But you also have to take in to conisderation how it's going to rev on the highway, especially if it's a 6sp ZF.

I'm in Townsville, which is why I am having so many issues I guess. If it ain't from japan nobody knows how it works....

That's for the link, I'll definitely try contacting him and seeing if I can purchase parts through him and have them sent up.

I'm not opposed to spending hours finding out how to do this stuff myself, it's just getting parts that is proving to be most difficult
