Hey,
just wondering... what was the difference in power between stock au falcon motor output and au xr6 output.

what was done to the motor to give it that extra bit, eg mods.

cheers

depends if the VCT donk or not. the normal one is different cam, ecu, higher fuel pressure reg, larger exhaust valves, higher ratio diff.

Standard AU and XR's have the same sized valves

and not all had VCT (very few did IIRC)

nope, the HP was not a standard AU engine

standard au = 157kw
XR6 HP = 164kw (different cam, retuned ECU, 300kpa fuel pressure, and I think it still got a bit of headwork)
XR6 VCT = 172kw and had VCT

Nah, XR6's have larger exhaust valves (39mm for Falcon, 41mm for XR6)
The 4.0 litre XR motor also copped an increase in compression (9.3:1 for Falcon, 9.35:1 for XR6), head work, valve springs got a 5 percent higher pre-load, camshaft, cooler plugs, recalibrated knock sensor and EEC tweaks. It's a kick a** motor and is noticeably better than a stocker. Revs a lot better and harder too.

Either way:

Falcon = 157kw
Falcon XR6 HP = 164kw
Falcon XR6 VCT = 172kw

Your thinking E-series. All au 6's got 41mm exhaust valves, which also have thinner valve stems compared to e-series

Really? I know they have thinner valve stems compared to e-series, but I didn't know that a stock AU motor had 41mm exhast valves...You sure? :)

sure am.

And the compression for au's was also 9.6:1 on all 6's
