I think the best thing is to go and have a listen to a few and see what you like, everyone will say theirs are best but what you like and what other ppl like may differ. Take your fav cd to test them out.

i have MB Quartz 6.5in splits which i picked up for $349 on special and can recommend those but like i said... its a personal choice.

Hey i have always been a fan of JL gear.
Go have a look JL's ZR650-csi splits, or the VR650-csi.
They are both top speakers and sound awsome

Not sure how much they are worth now, but if you know somewhere that stock JL gear in your area go have a look

oh yeah...i forgot to say go have a listen for yourself. However the mb quart ones i heard were also good.

Also guys when you bought your splits are the ones you bought the same ones as the salesman has in his car, cos i reckon they're flat out lying.

if you want pure sound quality dont skimp on the speakers and for god sakes dont pay attention to the wattage, its just a number, look at the specs, look for total harmonic distortion - thd, sensativity, freq response, and claimed power @ 1k

For the price range your looking at, you cannot go past the Hertz HSK range, IMO one of the best speakers you can get for under $500...

hmm yea all comes down to price, look at the hertz ones like rmyers said, they are good speakers, but if price is an issue, let your ears and wallet work together :D
