Sorry to snake a post.
Bought mine from a car yard with with the parcel shelf already cut. Noticed 8 months later. Is it fixable, ie welded and engineered.

Too bad your car wont get through a roadworthy now.................................. Cutting your parcel shelf is ILLEGAL!!!!!!!

hahha yeah its technically illegal, but like it wont pass a roadworthy. Ive had seen alot worse get p;assed for roadworthy. I also highly doubt they will even check to see how your speakers are mounted when getting the roadworthy. Besides ive always found if they are adement about failing it, a carton of beer helps :)

you can cut the parcel shelf out and weld in a new one.
im sure people will say its illegal to do but its not.
cutting the shelf is illegal but as long as they look straight (like mine) they wont check it.

well I managed to fit 8" speakers in the rear of my shelf...but then again I pulled the old parcel shelf carpet off and made a totally new and custom one. With a bit of creativity, skills and time...you can make a nice custom parcel shelf without cutting the metal and is legal.

but killer_EL's way is the easiest and cheapest option to fit 6x9s...but i vouch for the good 6" speakers.

phong =P~

Most shops can engineer it any how. I have had it done in a store and they cut the shelf. Never once got pinned for it and roadworthied that car three times through being lazy and accident prone in my younger days.
