ok so i have been looking at some of the sweet as boot installs out there but i realised that not many ppl are using alpine subs.. well thats irrelevant really.. anyway, i am in the process of making up a custom boot install for my xr and was just wondering what people would think about mounting 2 alpine Type R subs rated at 1500W max each between the strut towers in the boot. i already have one alpine sub in a box which works good but wanna go the whole way with the custom boot install/fake floor.. just wondering whether there is enough space between the strut towers to make these subs drive hard and whether to seal or port the box. thanks

I'm no stereo expert but to me it sounds awesome. Very smooth but powerful bass, rest of the system is crystal clear aswell being MB Quartz all round.

yeah thats true but most subs of that power range are expensive though.. the amps is what kills it.. 600 onwards for a decent amp to run it.. ah well im happy

$300 for a 500wrms dvc sub that sounds half decent isn't expensive...

Like anything tho u pay for what you get - alpines done very well when it comes to speaker/subwoofer performance in both SPL and SQ markets without burning massive holes in the customer pockets as a result.

my alpine 12" goes well enough atm without bein tuned.. so just an off topic question.. how do you tune them.. also with a sub box.. how do you mount the sub in the box.. like do you only mount it at the front or at the back as well..
