Hey guys,

Got a new amp and splits. My amp runs 125wrms per channel for the splits. The splits are 70wrms. I have the gains set to point 0.8 however i can have them at 0.5, 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.5, 2, 3, and 4. Ahh i was just wondering if the cones should be getting warm or not when i push them hard. Because i run them at 160htz, i cant really get distortion coming through so i can't tell if i am overdriving them. The other day though, i felt them and they were warm after about 5 minutes of playing and had a panic thinking i was gonna stuff them up. i will be getting some sound deadening soon so i wont have to push them as hard to get the same volume but what do you guys think about the temperature of them.

cheers

depends on how warm..... warm to touch is fine, but hot so you cant hold a finger on it means trouble..... heat is just a normal part of a speakers function

hm yea warm is ok, but it gets really hot, that spells trouble, normally you will notice a change in your speakers before this happens anyway.

You will generally notice a substancial sound difference if they get really hot. But not always. But warm is normal.
