Thanks mate, heard 6.5 inch fit then heard only 5.25 fit, would rather go 6.5 inch, im only using these and slim line 12 inch sub, 6.5 inch better quality, more made and better bang for buck.
Thanks anyway

Hey Mate,

I have a set of Alpine type-x 6.5 inch splits in my BA Ute and they have a mounting depth of 65mm.

they are pretty damn close to the glass, so i wouldn't go any deeper than that.

the alpines came with a 5x7 to 6.5inch converter plate for ease of install.

yer you can buy the convertor plates seperately also. depending on the thickness of the plate you can offset the depth of the speaker as long as you don't hit the mesh on the other side. i've had pioneer 6 inch splits and jbl 6' subs in the doors and replaced them all with 5x7's the 12'' does enough damage for me.
