Guess this can go here.

Ok so i got an issue. This has happened over the last maybe 1-2 months
95% of the time the car starts fine. the other part it barely turns over, but normally catches eventually. Now this has only done this maybe 5 -6 times over this period. However, when it does this, turn the car straight off and it will restart as if there wasn't a problem. However some times the clock does reset.

Today however it wouldn't start. after i had been away for ~5 minutes. had to get bro to jump start me, started straight away not a sign of struggle.

Now im likely to say battery. but why can i go for weeks without seeing this issue?

Could be the alternator not charging the battery properly. The battery may have been fully charged and last you those weeks before it died due to the failure of the alternator. There may be a loose wire somewhere or hanging of a few strands rather then a whole cable. Look at the battery terminals and see if it needs cleaning for better contact.

Get a multi-meter and see if the alternator is charging up the battery when the car is on. Belt could be slipping.

Ummm besides that maybe the battery has finally given in?

phong =P~

The battery is probably 3+ years old at least.

the alternator is 3 month old reco. the volt guage is fine.

im thinking a cell might be on the way out? when you try start it with the problem the guage ont he dash drops to the minimum. but can a cell be half working?

might just bite the bullet and get a new battery. Member of RAC anyway. anyone know if the RAC batteries are cheaper than buying them yaself? and any cheapish recommendations.

3 yrs is getting on, as far as batteries are concerned.
Anything's possible internally - I had a battery that had a break in the lead connectors causing it to be intermittent - electrolyte checked out fine, but at times the battery was fine, other times it acted like it was flat.

I'd say a newie is on the cards - can you do a swap with someone with a similar capacity one for a few days??
