hey ford fans,
just a query i have an alpine cda-9831 headunit with ipod connection installed and running in my 92 eb s pack and was wondering what would be the best set up for speakers, as i eventually want to install a sub what would be the best option, the best brand. I've decided to go step by step and just install the front speakers first as im under budget so just 2 splits in the front with a budget of probably around 250-300$, in your opinion what would be the best brand? and would i need to run an amp for these keeping in mind i want to eventually get 2 way speakers on the partial shelf in the back.

Cheers boys.

well since i have a 92 eb s pack ive been told that i could only fit speakers 5mm deep in the front because the gap between the speaker hole and the door is really thin and i dont want to run spacers or do any door modifications, does that limit my possiblities?

If your not wanting to bother with an external amp to run the front speakers (i.e. just run them off the headunit), then I'd just go to youer local Autobarn (or what ever) and get a pair of good brand name splits, nothging to fancy. They've often got a special on a set of Pioneers or Clarion or something.
If your going to hook them up to a better amp then get something better. Shop around, you might find a set that's on sale or at a special price or something. Make sure you test them out and compare them to others.

i was impressed by alpine type S splits running directly off a h/u. suprising amounts of bass and good clarity and reasonable volume levels. recommend giving them a listen as they're in ur budget :)

u sure thats 5 millimetres? or is it 5cm? it'd be one hell of a shallow speaker otherwise

The doors on the EB's are the same as that on the EF. I've had 5 different speakers in (Pioneer, Clarion, 2 Alpines and a Boss Audio) and I've never had a problem or had to worry about the speaker magnet depth. You should have trouble at all finding a set that'll fit.

Phillips or Earthquake splits. Earthquake make a shallow mount set that are good when depth is a problem.

I would also look at HERTZ
