For those who don’t know here is a bit of a rundown on how it works.

2 x judges sit in the car and listen for a realistic sound, smooth frequency response, good imaging and staging and nice tonal balance. They listen to a range of music from a judging disc from light rock, jazz and some vocal music.

db is not measured

There is 4 major classes

Street Classes
It is just SQ and no install aspects are examined, so you can have speakers held in with bluetak or raw MDF (and some competitors do) and it does not matter.

Show Classes
It’s 60% SQ and 40% install quality, degree of difficulty and finish, show features related to the stereo, unique stereo features and your display (things such as a A board with system details etc…) are all counted

Amateur Classes
Have SQ judged from both drivers and passengers side, while the imaging portion of the SQ is only judged from the drivers side, so if you time align your system mainly for the driver then you wont get too much criticism from the judges.

Pro Classes
Are stricter in their judging as they expect more and are for people who either work in the car audio industry or are enthusiasts who want to compete at the highest level.
Pro Show class is the most difficult in the sense the judges are hard on SQ + all install and display portions are examined meaning every aspect of the stereo and related components is examined and they expect high results.

NOTE: The actual car itself is not judged so a stock looking Mazda 323 would be no worse off than a hotted up mercedies. Things like wheels and bodykits do not count for anything.

I had the pleasure of seeing the car at the Autobarn Epping event and just hearing Aaron talking about the stuff he has put into the car and system I was amazed.

Competitors first have to nominate whether they wished to be ranked under stealth install or show install.....

Stealth is for systems that havent been setup to necassirillary look the part but maybe for practicallity such as spare wheel access, keeping boot space or just to have a well hidden system to have that "stealthly" appeal like turbo cars with hidden intercoolers etc..

Show is exactly that fibreglass, shiny paint, vinyl, leather, neons, screens etc etc you name it....

Each of the 2 classes are judged differently.

For SHOW:
Level of skill displayed 1-5pts
Quality of worksmanship 1-5pts
use of additional materials 1-5pts
consistency of theme in interior 1-5pts
consistency of theme in boot/hatch 1-5pts
consistency between interior and boot/hatch 1-5pts
Innovative ideas/inginuity 1-30pts

For STEALTH:
Trimming matches OE trim finish 1-5pts
All components hidden or blended in 1-5pts
retains full functionality (inc spare wheel access etc) 1-5pts
consistency of theme in interior 1-5pts
consistency of theme in boot/hatch 1-5pts
consistency between interior and boot/hatch 1-5pts
Innovative ideas/inginuity 1-30pts

So they dont differ to much for the specific class judging...there are also general judging based on the below.

Was vehicle open for display to public 0 or 10 pts
A-Frame/story board/sandwich board on display and detail 0,4,6,8,10 pts
photo slideshow or logbook of installation/key features 0-5 pts
Interior cleaned and detailed 0 or 5 pts
Exterior cleaned and detailed 0 or 5 pts
additional security features 0-5 pts
lighting/neon/highlight effects 0-5 pts
additional vehicle display features 0-5 pts

and thats bout it for visual side of things
