I've got to legt off my lazy a** and get my stereo mounted in the AU ute.

I have my Pioneer front splits (6.5 inch I think ... bullet cones)
Pioneer 8" 3-way coaxs (can't get them anymore)
two 12" JL Audio 12W0 subs
Pioneer 600W 4-ch amp

Was thinking of using the 4-ch amp to run the 8" coaxs (gotta try and figure where to mount these) and the 6.5" splits as well.

Need to get myself a decent sub amp to run the 2 JL Audios too.

Should be all good though.

Hoping I can mount the 8" coaxs in the rear corners of the ute where the factory speakers are ... might have to build it out a bit though.

I think I should get good sound out of that in the ute cabin.

Will be kjeen to see that, Australia has not set a single world SPL record and in fact are not even close in any class so far so this is a big step forward...

I am pretty sure there was a little pink Charade (old s**t box) that broke some record a few years ago ... was something along the lines of mid-170dB.

Not in Australia i dont think, or at least not at a sanctioned compeition. No one in Aus has hit over 170db.

Mine is a rockford fosgate power amp which powered at 2000wrms at 1 ohm, type r 12"s x 4 which run at 500wrms. Then some infinity splits which are 90wrms at 92db sensitivity which will be off my 4channel pioneer which bridged runs at 100wrms x 2. And then the rears again the infinity slpits which will run off my 75wrms x 2 eclipse amp.

Not a sound quality system of course. i want to shake chapel street and try and effect the idle with bass at the lights. i worked its out and all i need is about $5000 to finish this and that includes sound deadening.

Cheers

yeah I remember that one in Hot4's ages ago. It had a 4 piece braced windscreen. Eight 15"s and a series of Eight 2Volt batteriers if I remember correctly. I only remember it doing 168ish or something though. It might have gotten better since then?

I'm pretty sure that one had removable seats, steering wheel and the pedals and auto shifter were behind removeable covers too :)

Shook the piss out of a massive car show shed while the doors were still closed on the car.

Yeah the shifter was behind the centre console panels. I was standing just over 5 metres away from the thing ... and when he took it off PAUSE ... I found it bloody hard to breathe ... even at that distance.

I'm very happy with my current system, just need to install it nicely. ATM it's held together with occy straps.

You may be refering to the MTX Hellbus?
I never heard that it cracked 170db but it may have.

It is also illegal according to DB Drag racing rules so any number it reached would have been disqualified.
(Can't have anby subs forward of the B pillar and it had subs oiverhead over the front 2 seats....)
To set a record you must also achieve the score twice, once in each lane so if you post 170.5db then 169.5db in the other lane then 169.5db becomes the record.

What i should have said is no vehicle in Australia that i know of has reached over 170db at a sanctioned event.

This was an 80's charade that was bought for $500, decked out in a box style interior. The whole dash was carpeted mdf and the door frames had added sealing in them. I'm sure it pumped out nearly 160db now that I think of it (not as high as i first said).

Since then a honda civic (possibly the loudest street car) has done 158dB or so with only 4 15" subs. It had a built in Ice chest for cooling wine, behind the amp rack.

There is a number of street cars pumping out over 150db.

The CAA mini produced 165db with 4 x 15's and not much less with 2 x 15's (around 162db i think)
