hey ive got falcon eb and the radio on it has these weird screws which i dont know wat to use to get it out... have i missed somethin?? does every1 else have this?? ive got a screw head for the shape but the screw's got a peice of metal in the middle preventin me from gettin the screwhead in it!!!

they are special torx-head screws - anti tamper ones. just go to s**t autos/repco/bunnings whatever, and you can buy the set cheap as chips

um before you do that me and my dad worked out you can grab the whole head with a pair of pliers and undo do them. I may slip a couple times but it also does the job. but if you can pick up a set cheap they are worth having.

I used a screw driver to break the centre spigot off then used a normal torx.

i've used the plier trick twice now, once on my ED and once on dads EF. Works a treat!!

first head unit install i used pliers to do em, and boy oh boy is that a b**ch. had nothing else to use.i think you can get the tools for them for like, $20 at bunnings

I work at bunnings and i bought a set for anti-tamper screws for $7 i think.
Its really cheap anyway. Try not to burr the screw though if you do the only way to get them out is with multi-grips (vice grips). FYI Stereo install places normally use use multigrips anyway, it takes like 2 mins each screw with them.

Its a very readily available screw head bit, cost me $5 for a whole kit and i have used it a number of times on other installs. For the sake of $5, not having to drill it out and having it for future use, i would recommend you buy the required part. Supercheap has them for $5.
