Here are the pictures and an explanation.

Here is the problem where i had the earth point previously, the ring terminal was not in full contact with metal.

so what i did was put the terminal on top of the bracket and sanded both sides of the bracket.

the hole was the perfect size in the top and gives the terminal full contact with metal

Problem solved!

I agree. I think that you need to make a better earth point.

+1 i never use an existing bolt to mount a new earth except for when i connected a thick earth lead up to my engine.

lukas find a good spot for a earth and drill a hole and remove all paint around the hole so your ring terminal can make full contact on bare steel.

use a bolt and nyloc nut as screws can vibrate loose.

try steering clear of the terminals you have on your lead and put on crimp terminals with them crimped and filled with solder.

also quick sand the side of the terminal that is making contact with the body.

thats what i do and i have never had a earth fail

cheers, bear

Honestly I still have my amps grounded there. Its deffianatly not the best earth but it does the job.
Reason is I didn't have a drill when I was installing.
