As the title says, I want to make up some trims for speakers and want to remove the trims without breaking them. Could someone provide a few pointers?

Cheer's in advance.

Just pull away from the pillar.

If you manage not to break all the tabs, you are one of the few miracle workers out there.

If you do break all or most of the tabs, off to the local wrecker.

What he said.

...if you don't break anything, can you take mine out too?

Bummer, that hard hey? I thought there was some screws or something that I couldn't see.

Doesn't the top of the door trim overlap over the A pillar trim? Doesn't that need to be removed first?

mmm... You're talking about the little plastic sail piece on the opposite side of the door to the mirror yes?

Not the A-pillar trim which is the long plastic thing that runs up along side your windscreen.

If so, same thing applies. Remove the one screw, and pull the plastic bit backwards. It is clipped in, and if its virginal, then it will be really hard to remove. Chances are low that you will break the clip that holds that piece in. If you do, off to the wreckers.

Onces its removal virginity has been taken, it will always be really easy to remove.

No other screws, and you dont have to remove the door trim. Once unclipped, the just slide up.

Nah, I mean the actual trim that runs up the A pillar.

I have removed heaps in more modern cars, usually they have a little flap with a screw at the top, and a metal clip at the bottom. The EF's seem to be a little different...

Oh.. s**t.. They do have a screw at the top.. Seem my e-series memory is fading now mine is gone..

You need to pull the rubber trim that surrounds the door opening... Then pull back the plastic trim closest to the a-pillar cover. This trim is clipped in, but be careful, as these clips can break and come off... Then under that you'll see a screw at the top most of the a-pillar cover.

Once that unscrewed, then pull the cover off... And pray you dont break the pins/clips that hold it in.

Even if you break one or 2, it will still go back nicely..

Bingo, thanks arm79!

I wasn't sure if there was just a clip or something else behind there. I'll be giving this a go when I get back from offshore!

Cheer's guys
