G'day guys. I'm looking to wire a killswitch into my ED Falcon Classic. Not sure about how the best way to go about it is, whether I go fuel pump, starter motor, etc. I'd love to know the different ways everyone has achieved this, and what the best thing to do would be.

So comment away! I need all the help I can get.

I reckon fuel pump would be good, that way if sum1 tries to start the car, it will start and die so

1: you might hear it kick over &
2: they will be aware of the sound they have just made and bail when they realise the car can't start

How would I go about doing this? Not completely sure about it all.

Well, many ways about it. A simple way would be to locate the wire going to the fuel pump from the fuel pump relay (located in the engine bay) and somewhere along that wire (maybe as it passes behind the drivers seat for example) cut that wire and install a switch there. Make sure the switch is rated to the current that the fuel pump will be pulling. Or, alternatively, you can find the signal wire that goes to the fuel pump relay and splice a switch into that wire (and this way, you wouldn't have to worry about current).

I'm tired tonite and this may not make much sense, but i'll give you a better explanation tomorrow unless someone else here does.

Would anyone be able to tell me where I could find the fuel pump signal wire? Or how much current runs from the ignition switch when cranking?

Not 100% sure but I believe the fuel pump relay is in the front left of the engine bay and is green in colour. Follow the signal wire back from there or if its too hard to follow back, cut it at the relay and route a wiring path through the firewall.

In the picture, the red circe is roughly where the relay is and the switch is supposed to be in the hiding spot inside your car.

Champion. I'll have a look and see what I come up with.

I'll post a reply with what happens.

Killswitch worked. The magnetic switch worked, however I couldn't find a suitable place to mount it, as the magnet had to stay in contact with the switch for the circuit to stay complete. Once the magnet moved away, the circuit was broken, and the car died. So I ended up just using a normal switch. If I can find a better magnetic switch, I'll change the switch that's on it now. But, it works. The relay was close to where it was in the EA, just hiding under the coolant tank in the ED. The wire, for anyone planning to do this, is green with a red stripe, and not as think as all the rest, except a red wire. But the green with red stripe is what you're after.

Worked a treat. Thankyou to all who helped me out.

Actually, another question. Any idea how I would go about wiring a decoy killswitch that just tooted the horn? I have a rough idea, but maybe someone has a better idea that a rough one. =P

run another line in parallel to the existing, and put your switch onto that ;)

Good thread, will help me and my auto electrition friend to wire it up now, as he wasnt sure if it was the green with red stripe wire or not. I have the best idea for where to put the switch aswell.
And we are working on a push button starter aswell like the BA GT's.
