Ive just bought a 12 inch 600 watt clarion sub and a 200 watt clarion amp but i dont want to go to a store and spend alot of money to get it installed. Does anyone know how to install it in an EF Falcon. im going for a DIY job.

hehe got no idea whats goin on with u Adelaide boys but as to your post steroids...

You need a wiring kit or something from somewhere like JB Hi-fi...normally round $90 - should give u all you need...may need a lil extra cable....

If your sticking with single engine bay battery. Is this car a manual or auto EF ?

ok well as expected car and all accessories off....

If its an auto it will make the job easier thats all. Normally youd mount the fuse holder as close as possible to the battery....leave the fuse out. (Try n get a kit with at least a 60amp fuse..most should...)....Run power cable from you positive battery terminal to the fuse holder. (If u can go 6 or 4 guage wire - being bigger - for your setup 6 or 8 will be fine) Then from the other side of the fuse holder through the clutch cable hole in the firewall...behind dash....down under the carpet of the drivers side into the boot (i take it thats where the amp is being mounted ?).....into positive power terminal of the amp. From amp negative connect the earth cable to ground in the spare whell well...anywhere really just so long as the spot is filed back to bare metal(chasis of the car is best and prefered)...and the earth terminal has clean contact.*Keep earth cable the same guage cable size or large (lower guage number and as short as possible from the amp.)

Have amp and sub/sub box mounted somewhere

From the head unit you will need to run down the left side of the car or close enough the RCAs (signal wires) and remote wire.....down to the amp....keeping clear of the amp power cable as much as possible...remote wire into remote terminal...normally in between the neg and positive amp terminals.....RCAs to RCA inputs on the amp. (This is taking it you are running an aftermarket head unit with RCA outputs - known as Pre-Outs)

Wiring the sub will depend on the it a Dual Voice Coil (DVC) can tell this by whether your sub has a single set of positive and negative terminals or a pair? Do you know what impedance (ohms) each coil is...should say on the box...2 or 4 ohm...or dual 2 or 4ohms

If its single its a matter of pos from sub to pos on amp...on the speaker channeland neg to neg on amp speaker channel....

Now its all wired up.....put the fuse back in and put to accessory or ignition on....if theres no smells :P and you have sound its all sweet.

If thats all good ya onto tuning it... if subs are the only bit of hardware being hooked up to the amp then kool otherwise please say :P.... Leaving everything on default amp settings and on the headunit - put the bass control to 0 and volume to 0...turn on LPF (Low pass filter if available) on the amp. Leave all other boosters or equalisers on defult or off.

If it has a frequency level like 80-120hz set to 80hz....put the gains on the amp to max.

Ear protection is recommended for next few instructions...

Now turn the volume up to as close to max as u can before u hear distortion(clipping)...then turn down the gains on the amp in very small increments and then turn the head unit up further until again it distorts (what were trying to do here is get your system to be able to play all the way to max volume without distorting which sounds s**t.)

Once you have it working on max with no clipping....slowly increment your bass control...again if its distorts drop the gains...until u have your bass crankin and system on full....with no ya right to can if ya know enough about what your doing play with the head deck equaliser (if available) to tweak individual frequency bands/ranges to be able to tinker even more and adjust gains etc accordingly....but this is a basic guide to get u goin...
