Another thread mining...I am currently in the process of making my new set up but am looking into some perspex or maybe glass.
After reading this thread...just wondering the price difference for perspex and glass. I just need a 320 x 280mm glass/perspex. Thickness can be 8 or 10mm...wouldn't need anything thicker for either since this isn't really going to be for a sub box...using free air and just need a view from the cabin into the boot where the amps are  .
Does anyone know any good suppliers in Melbourne? phong =P~

Go to a glass/perspex shop not a hardware store. I got two pieces, one 400x254, the other 280x254 both 6mm thick, cut AND flame polished edges - $20. And got them done on the 23rd of December.

dotmar plastics in dingley,pretty big place though might put you on to a smaller joint!

Get glass.............
Stonger, cheaper and more resistive to scraches.

I have found it galss a lot cheaper.
{erspecs flexes and i found that 25mm perspecs is needed be as resistive to flexing as 10mm or 12mm glass. I got a 600mm x 300mm piece of 12mm glass for $80. Quote on 25mm perspecs was $138 Get a price on 10mm or 12mm glass and also on 25mm perspecs so we can do a comparison. What are the dimensions required?

I just need 320 x 280mm. It isn't that big so i am guessing it wouldn't cost over 100 for either material...
I'll try and get a quote from a glazier today. phong =P~

I just got pricing from my supplier
$118 approx for 20mm perspecs $39 for 12mm glass

Well I just got a pricing for a 10mm glass and they said $30 for a 320mm x 280mm with polished ends. Didn't ask for perspex because I was after glass.
BTW this is not going into a sub box...it is just a viewing window into the boot from the cabin. phong =P~

not only does glass sound worse, but i had the sheet of glass smash on my 3 15" sub enclosure i used to have. would not recommend glass. glass is bad mmmkay?

Actually, you dont need any specialized tools to work with perspex at all. A band saw is all you need really. |

If you want stronger that perspex but not glass then there is lexan which is used in planes it dose not scratch as easliy as perspex.

yeah but how thick was the glass? I am not using the glass for a sub enclosure. phong =P~
