I don't know 100% - never done it before.

But, as a guess...

- fully insulate the case so it can't possible earth to the car body. THIS IS IMPORTANT the case of the head unit will be negative earth.
- carefully wire up the neg and + to it.

Assuming its still Generator and solenoid style regulator then rewire it for -ve earth, do a search old mini's used to be easily changed.

I agree with twason that it can be done.
When I bought an XP through the Toyota dealer I worked for in 1969, it was already converted to use a negative earth Toyota alternator. The workshop manager had owned it and he said it wasn't hard to do, unfortunately I don't have the details of what he did.
Cheers,
Paul

Well all it was, was a convention. Most people associate Earth with -ve, probably 'common' is the better word to use. Years ago it was quite common - particularly on pommy cars IIRC.
Easiest is a google search - here's one to start off:

like others have said mainly the brit cars

but to save the hassle of rewire...

just insulate the deck completely and wire as normal
BUT use the chassis as +

be careful with screws holding the thing too, need a way of isolating them as well...

also how the fck does that work with accessories and ignition? might need a relay to sort that...

Car antennas use the body as the field for the radio, so there is a good chance that the outer part of the antenna plug is actually positive as well. If you are going to install the -ve earth deck into +ve earth car, you have to isolate everything, body of the deck, outside of the antenna most be insulated from the deck as well or it will short.

oh snap, hadnt even thought of that, but yeah, it will probably sound like s**t using the radio...

might be better long term to change it to -ve earth... probably not much more work considering everything you have to worry about

so even though it seems like a big job to change it to + earth and no idea how the f..k it works, actually its fairly simple to do from the sounds of it

WELL IAM NOT CONNECTING THE ANTENNA CAUSE ALL I WANT TO DO IS HAVE MY MP3 PLAYER PLAYING MUSIC....

SO IF IT SEEMS A PAIN ME ASKING NOW THAT IS THERE SOME OTHER WAY EVEN BY REMOVING THE RADIO ALL TOGETHER AND JUST HAVE THE MP3 PLAYER CONNECTED TO CIG' LIGHTER AND THEN JUST SPEAKERS WITH SOME SORT OF AMPLIFIER,,, CAUSE I KNOW IT WONT MAKE MUCH NOISE IF ITS 6 by 9 SPEAKERS STRAIGHT TO MP3 PLAYER

i'M SURE AN AUTO-ELECTRICIAN MIGHT BE ABLE TO TELL YOU FOR A PRICE. THAT'S YOUR BEST OPTION IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE ANSWERS YOU'VE GOT. WE
SEEM TO THINK THE EASIEST WAY IS TO GO TO A NEGATIVE EARTH SETUP.
