i have a 4 channel amp, each channel is 180 watt @ 2 ohm. when bridged to 2 channels it says its 320watts @ 4ohm, now if i was to bridge it to 1 channel i would asume it would be something like 640 @ 8 ohm? it has nothing to say that you can bridge it one channel only 4,3 & 2...

can it be done? and what is likely to happen to a 600watt ,4ohm sub
if run at 8 ohm?

sorry, im thinking i mite sound like a d***head :D

You cannot bridge a 4 channel amp to 1 channel.. They will generally only go 4/3/2 channel..

By wat you have said I think you need a crash course in amplifier and subwoofer impedance matching.. But i haven't got the right frame of mind for that at the moment.. LOL..

For your sub you would be best to get a different amp.. One that is going to have sufficient power to run it..

Cheers,
Nik

I agree with WIKWOK.

4 channel amps can't be bridged into a 1 channel amp...unless you really want to blow the thing up.

You should get another amp that can produce at least the minimum RMS wattage of the sub for the sub to perform at its full potential.

For the time being you can use the 4 channel amp to power the sub...at least you know the sub won't blow and use the other 2 channels to either your speakers or another sub.

I think Aaron (pyroay) did a sticky at the top of this section of the forum. Read it up for a crash course on sound systems, electronics and basic stuff.

phong =P~
