G'day everyone,
I bought this 2 way alarm with remote engine start:
http://www.crazysales.com.au/index.php?productID=1065

and have installed it to the best of my knowledge.

It looks like it only has 2 wires for the remote start - 1 for the ON position of the ignition and 1 for the START position.

I've got them hooked up to R-DB and R-DG at the bottom of the steering column. The remote makes the motor turn over, but it's not starting as fast as it does with the key. Infact ... it normally just turns over and flattens the battery.

Can anyone confirm if I've hooked it up to the right wires and why it may not be starting properly?

Cheers,
Jeremy

if your car has smart lock you need to address that first, a way to do that is use a smartlock buypass, then will it work.

it's a Fairmont - so it has Smart Lock. But if I lock the car with the factory remote I can still start the car with the key. So I don't know if the Smart Lock immobiliser is working?

Where do I get a Smartlock bypass from or can you program the BEM to turn off the Smart Lock?

its not the remote that disables the smartlock its the ignition barrel that disables the smartlock..
